Fall Leadership Conference
Yes, They Can See Us Now!
On September 18th, state and local MRSPA leaders met at the Comfort Inn and Conference Center, in Bowie, Maryland to focus on "Visibility." Almost 65 state and local leaders from across Maryland met to continue our work on building membership, ensuring that our local and state associations are "visible" to our potential, current and former members. Burkey Belser of Widmeyer Finn Partners of Washington, DC led the group through the basics of branding, marketing, and name and logo recognition. Al Campos, Director of the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), presented information on the newly revised REA Leadership manual which will be available to state and local associations soon. Local leaders from Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot Counties shared progress reports on their membership recruitment efforts, while local leaders from Caroline, Charles, and Harford Counties participated in a panel discussion of their pre-retirement seminars that provide great visibility for their local to potential members.
